On behalf of the CPCU Alamo Chapter Board of Directors, Happy New Year. In 2018, we began to hear the message that the insurance industry will be disrupted through digital technologies pushing businesses to explore innovative ways to adapt and lead through change. We are hearing more about big data, block chain data, automation, smart homes, smart cars, digital technology, predictive modeling, machine learning and many more disruptors that will have an impact on how we evaluate, sell and process insurance products and settle losses.
The CPCU mission is to provide leadership and professional development to industry professionals. Now appears to be the time to lean on one another’s experience and expertise, share ideas and innovative approaches in order to broaden the breadth of our membership’s knowledge. We want to equip our membership with information and resources to embrace the future of the insurance industry.
We must balance our objective of staying in front of the industry changes with mentorship efforts and membership outreach. One focus for 2019 will be helping those who aspire to obtain their CPCU and expanding our membership with an outreach program that improves membership diversity and growth. Please join us in this effort.
2019 is another great year of expanding – both in membership and in knowledge. Our board just finished our planning meeting for this year and we are excited about the road ahead. Please see the calendar of events – an exciting year has been planned just for you.
As always, we want to hear from you on what you want from your membership. AND we want to see you. Come to our first social February 5th to learn about volunteer opportunities, meet your board and simply hang out. This will be right after work and our first event of the year. We want to meet you, hear your thoughts and create an event where you can enjoy the company and commonality of insurance professionals.
I am honored to serve as your President again for 2019. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or a member of our board. Let’s make a difference in 2019!!
